BACKGROUND
Doctor Flake is a French composer who evolves in the Downtempo style like a medical expert in dissecting.. music: a Surgi-cian… read more
PERFORMANCE
On stage, Doctor Flake’s music assisted by a computer develops a universe that is unique and profoundly vivid, thus breaking away from set ideas which tend to relegate the electronic music artist to the rank of a passive artist. Combining poetry, melancholy, energy and visual dimension, his music eventually seduces and charms the audience with its melodic and harmonic form. Technically the strength of his show depends on his composing skills and his choice to play these pieces without the simple satisfaction of replaying them again. Although it could appear as a tedious exercise, this re-interpretation appeals to Doctor Flake: after being on stage for 5 years, he now knows how to play with it and constantly re-invents it.

Alternating genres, sampling and sentiments embody the soul of “FLAKE UP”: an album that reveals an operational system in constant evolution.
This fourth self-produced studio album welcomes two new collaborations; the singer Nawelle Saidi* presents Trip Rock off the album with the song title “Hollow People” and Black Sifichi*, with his mastery of the spoken-word, applies his very unique phrasing in “Aorta”. The collaborations that have already been tested and approved on “Minder Surprises” are involved again with a debut for Vale Poher who authors and interprets in French the poignant “Une île”. We find her as celestial as ever on “Silver” for a Trip Hop beat in the purest vein of Bristol. Miscellaneous (rapper of Fumuj among others) is back for two Hip Hop gems on “Followers” and “Addiction”, the latter being supported by the precise and referenced scratches of DJ Pee (Le Peuple de l’Herbe). Doctor FLAKE does not necessarily leave aside his first instrumental love, and we rediscover him as a solo artist in four Abstract Hip Hop titles. Nawelle Saidi*: main vocalist of the collective Screenatorium
Black Sifichi*: poet, performer, DJ, radio presenter and electro-dub activist who collaborated on several occasions with Ez3kiel, Brain Damage or even Duphonic.
